Welcome Athletes to Peurunka 2027

The European Masters Weightlifting Championships 2027 will take place in Peurunka, Finland, from 4–13 August 2027.

We are excited to welcome masters athletes from across Europe to compete, meet old friends, make new ones, and experience Finnish hospitality in the beautiful lake district of Central Finland.

This page will serve as the main source of information for athletes before and during the championships.


Championship Information

Competition Format
Athletes compete in both the Snatch and the Clean & Jerk disciplines. During the championships, medals are awarded for:

  • Snatch
  • Clean & Jerk
  • Total Result (combined Snatch and Clean & Jerk)

This means that athletes have the opportunity to win up to three medals within their age group and bodyweight category.

Who Can Compete?

Masters Weightlifting is open to athletes aged 35 years and older.

Athletes compete in official Masters age groups and bodyweight categories according to current European and International Masters Weightlifting regulations.

Age Groups

  • M35 / W35 (35–39)
  • M40 / W40 (40–44)
  • M45 / W45 (45–49)
  • M50 / W50 (50–54)
  • M55 / W55 (55–59)
  • M60 / W60 (60–64)
  • M65 / W65 (65–69)
  • M70 / W70 (70–74)
  • M75 / W75 (75–79)
  • M80 / W80 (80–84)
  • M85 / W85 (85–89)
  • M90+ / W90+ (90 years and above)

Bodyweight Categories

Women

49 kg, 53 kg, 57 kg, 61 kg, 69 kg, 77 kg, 86 kg, +86 kg

Men

60 kg, 65 kg, 70 kg, 75 kg, 85 kg, 95 kg, 110 kg, +110 kg

The final timetable will be confirmed after registration has closed and all athlete entries have been verified.

The championships will be conducted according to the current Masters and IWF Technical and Competition Rules.
